The Unjust (Hangul: 부당거래; RR: Budanggeorae; lit. "Bad deal" or "Unfair trade") is a 2010 South Korean crime film by Ryoo Seung-wan. It is a dark and bitter denunciation of corruption in the South Korean justice system.
It was a critical and commercial success, with 2.7 million admissions at the box office and winning several awards, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay at the 2011 Blue Dragon Film Awards.
This is director Ryoo Seung-wan's fifth collaboration with his younger brother, actor Ryoo Seung-bum. Lead actors Hwang Jung-min and Ryoo Seung-bum previously worked together in Bloody Tie (2006).
The public is angry. A violent serial killer and kills many children of primary school. The police, in a panic, eliminates the prime suspect without evidence against him and, under pressure from the government also tries to cover up the case. For Choi Cheol-gi, the police captain, is an important opportunity to make a career and to silence the voices of his friendship with the gangster Jang Seok-gu. When passing the border to try to come clean it turns out that in the game there are big powers with whom it would be better not to have to do.
It is difficult to follow the plot of The Unjust: all the protagonists have a split personality, living with legality, know well but are adept at denigrate when they are cornered. Documents and photographs prove the level of corruption of the various protagonists, all bound together in the double game of the murder hunt.
