PLOT

1988, Oh Dae su is a common, normal man who the 4th birthday of his daughter's is released from jail ( He was arrested after being caught extremely drunk ) and afterward kidnaped.The Man wakes up and discovers that he is locked in a small and dingy cell-apartment: his cell, from which escape is impossible, is equipped with a bed, a bathroom and an old TV with a few channels.

And it is just watching the news that Dae-su, trapped and distraught, he learned of the murder of his wife and that is attributed to him.

Destroyed by the news and worn down by imprisonment, the man, unaware of the reasons for this psychological torture, attempts suicide several times, but is always saved by his mysterious captors. Dae-su one day manage to make a breach in a wall, but it turns out to be in a skyscraper; then, he is drugged and his room repaired. Years pass: not go crazy Dae-su passes the time writing, practicing in shadowboxing against the wall and trying in vain to figure out who hate him to the point to keep him imprisoned.....
